Guide for Students

Academic Guide
The following should be considered:

  1. Students should consider their own future plans, academic interest and needs, and then select the classes they wish to take from as many areas as possible. Students are free to choose elective classes, but they should be aware of the exact number of credits needed for either graduation or certification. Students are advised to learn about each class in order to make wise decisions.
  2. Credits are acquired when an instructor grants passing grades after analyzing the student’s attendance, examinations, reports, and other factors. Students may be denied credits, despite a passing test score, if they lack in other areas.
  3. Students who fail may be allowed to take a make-up exam or turn in a report for credit if they personally request it. Excessive absences will not allow the student this consideration. Only with satisfactory results will credit be given.
  4. Merely being present in class is not enough. Preparation and review of class material is necessary. Lecture style classes require prior independent study of specified literature.
  5. Students should utilize the wide collection of literature in the library.
  6. If students are uncertain about the registration procedure, either seminar teachers or the Junior College Educational Division should be contacted.

Registration Procedure

  1. At the beginning of each semester, the student must choose classes and register with the school either for the semester or for the entire academic year.
  2. The two-year registration plan should be made in advance according to the course requirements in order to avoid future registration problems.
  3. Adding to or withdrawing from classes is allowed if done during the designated period. No changes are allowed after this period.
  4. A Registration Card is necessary when registering for classes. Closely following instructions will prevent errors.
  5. The Registration Card will need to be filled out with a PENCIL in BLOCK STYLE. All required information must be properly filled out.  The roll books are created based on the Registration Card.
  6. The Registration Card must be submitted in person. No late registration is allowed. Please observe the DEADLINE. Students who miss the registration deadline will not be allowed to take classes.
  7. At the time of registration, a “copy of the registration record” is issued. Please keep this for reference in order to keep track of earned credits.
  8. Once registration is completed, withdrawal from classes is only approved after the official withdrawal procedure is followed.

Examinations

  1. Regular examinations and make-up examinations are given at the end of each semester.
  2. The examination schedule is announced on the school bulletin board 1 week prior to the examination period.
  3. Please be aware of the exact time and location of examinations in order to avoid involuntarily forfeiting examinations.
  4. Each examination lasts 60 minutes.
  5. Notes on taking examinations.
    1. Examinations may only be taken if the student has registered for the class.
    2. Make-up examinations must be officially requested to the Junior College Educational Affairs Division by the deadline. The application for doing so must be turned in using the designated form, and have the required certificate stamps pasted on. Please follow the guideline.
    3. No make-up examinations are given without the submission of the above application.

Grades

  1. The following grading system is used:
    • Excellent = 100 ~ 80%
    • Good = 79 ~ 70%
    • Passing = 69 ~ 60%
    • Fail = 59% or below
  2. A report card is issued to students on the scheduled date.
  3. The Student ID must be presented in order to receive the report card.
